I Need to Add a Touch on My Kitchen and My Bathroom

Posted under Bathroom, Kitchen by admin on Monday 10 May 2010 at 10:24 pm

I have recently moved to a new house. I like this house. This house is on good environment in the middle of the city, but it is not crowded. I like it. The house is also beautiful. It is smaller than my old house, but I like it better. I can have my own studio here. This house applies a great design that represent elegance but not too glamorous. Wood is everywhere. I have back garden as a separation between main house and my studio. I can invite friends for barbeque on the back garden I suppose. The lighting is also enough. I can get enough light at day. There are big windows everywhere. I can also have warm lighting from those lamps.

I change my furniture a lot since I moved. I want to match the furniture with the house theme. It will make pleasant view inside the house. I change the living room, the bedrooms, the dining room and the library. At last, I still need to put some more touch on bathroom and kitchen details. I really need to change the faucets. I wear ordinary stainless steel faucet. I am searching for other kinds of kitchen faucets. I need something more efficient but apply good design and color. I need it to match the house. I also need to change my kitchen sink. I am still looking for the right kitchen sinks for my kitchen. I will like something elegance like stone sinks maybe. It will really match the house. The essence of nature is just great for my house. The last touch will be on my bathroom vanities. I do not have one yet inside the bathroom. I am looking for medium bathroom vanities with warm colors and good material. I will also love one that wears elegant design.

I really hope to find those items very soon. Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to visit shops. I think it is going to be even longer than I expect.

Keep your Kitchen or Dining Room Table Clutter-Free

Posted under Kitchen by admin on Monday 3 May 2010 at 7:18 am

Kitchen or dining room tables can easily become a catch-all for everyone’s belongings.  Mail, school books, car keys, pens, pencils, and other miscellaneous items can quickly appear, and at dinnertime, end up in a large pile of clutter somewhere else in your household.

To curtail this habit, try organizing a central area for everyone’s belongings right inside the door to your house.  Install hooks on the wall so that purses, coats and backpacks can easily be hung upon entry.  A bench or short shelf can be placed directly underneath the hanging area for clearly labeled catch-all bins for each member of the family.  This will also help during the course of the day when picking up around the house.  Items found around the house can be placed in these bins, and each family member should get into the habit of making sure items are emptied from the bins and properly put away each evening.

If your kitchen table doubles as an arts and crafts studio or location for your kids to do their homework, make sure that there are bins, shelves and containers nearby that neatly organize school, office and arts supplies, and keep them within easy reach.  Help establish good habits in your children by ensuring they are held responsible for putting these things away as soon as they are done using them.  Make sure snacks are kept on plates and drinks are kept on coasters to ease cleanup time.

A nicely decorated table spread is also an ingenious way to keep the table from becoming cluttered.  Spread a nice tablecloth and place a large centerpiece on it, or even set four or six formal place settings on a dining room table that is not used for meals each evening.  Your family will be less likely to lay things on these tables since they can see there are already things there.  You’ll also be ready for company at the last moment this way.

Lighting has a major role in setting up the moods and interiors of any place. Same is applicable to the case of a kitchen. Even in a kitchen it is very important to go for the right kind of lighting. How you choose to display lights in kitchen spaces make a big difference ambience

You might decide what kind of light makes you feel active and vibrant, for most of the people bright and clear light are mind and activeness booster.

Here are some tips  to consider before you choose kitchen lighting:

  1. You should be on the selection and placement of lights in the kitchen and clearly the focus should be on environmental friendly lighting in the kitchen.
  2. If you are quite aware of the lighting process, it is better to seek professional advice. A professional lighting experts will tell you how the proper lighting in harmony with your interior.
  3. You can really confused when you go to the market, without drawing a rough sketch of your wishes and requirements, you must decide the monastery, whether you go for a traditional or a modern type of lighting.
  4. You can light your kitchen by using two or three types of lighting are a good match, this will also help you a dramatized action.
  5. Do not think only the eyes, also worried that the devices that you choose to keep, are easy to maintain or not.
  6. It is good to choose, lighting with dimmers, so that the intensity of light can be changed according to need and whim.
  7. Apart from overhead, you should go for fluorescent lamps in the closet and under the shelves. If you have a kitchen island go for two or three pendent fixtures over it.

There are many other lighting types for your kitchen that can offer the homeowner a chance to get more brightness.

  • The trends : While seemingly always stylish down-lights are still a good choice to show new trends and the fluorescent lights make a comeback, and the pendant lights that have more often found on a dining table or in an entrance, made their way into the kitchen.
  • The different types of lighting : As in any other room in the kitchen, you will probably have three different “styles” of light – ambient or background lighting, task lighting and mood lighting.

  • Ambient lighting : This term describes the basic, top light that requires a room – so it is called backlighting. It is most effective when it is positioned by lights on the ceiling, as opposed to wall or cabinet lights, and the options include things such as halogen down-lights, fluorescent lights, and even traditional incandescent bulbs.
Install the outlets which allow for the highest performance available, and equip the room with a dimmer, so you can control the brightness.
  • Task-oriented lights : It’s stating the obvious to say that your kitchen is likely to be the most task-oriented room in your house, but it does ram home a point – you need adequate lighting to make that possible. The key areas of a kitchen – the sink, the cook top and the preparation   areas – all need to be well lit, and that means installing anything and everything from spotlights directed specifically towards an area, fluorescent lights mounted above a splash back, to down lights that are installed beneath wall-hung cabinets.
  • Mood lighting : In a lounge room, mood lighting might be provided by a standard or up-lamp in the corner of the room. And, while a standard lamp might look a little foreign in your kitchen, the room still needs its fair share of mood. With the push towards open-plan living, the kitchen is likely to be part of a bigger picture, and mood lighting can quickly take the space from purely functional to totally beautiful. Pendant lights are a good choice here because, apart from looking stylish even during the day, they’re a great way to create instant mood at night.

The lighting in your kitchen not only affects your mood but also your quality of work then also while designing kitchen people tend to ignore this aspect. Good lighting can encourage productivity and efficiency in this very important part of the home. With a good lighting design not only can you ensure a pleasing kitchen that is easy to work on, but you can ensure that your electricity bills would not go beyond your budget.

Designer Kitchens

Posted under Kitchen by admin on Tuesday 19 January 2010 at 5:27 pm

The term “designer kitchens” can bring up up many things for many people, the littlest of which is a modern type kitchen. Designer kitchens can be created by the elite of the interior decorating world and thus make them a true blue interior designer kitchen. Or you also have the kitchens which are replicated from the kitchens that grace the homes of celebrities and world renown chefs. However, the designer kitchen in not out of reach for the everyday folks. Then there’s the next tier of designer kitchens which to my mind is fundamentally the kitchens which you design for yourself from scratch. Just a little know how, practical application and confidence is all one needs to design their own wonderous kitchen.
The kitchens that we do ourselves are my favorite form of designer kitchens as they include everything that you could possibly want. However, it mixes and matches your preferences to create the perfect kitchen for you. For instance you may like darker finished wood and want the center island with a sink. If so then with some designer skills you can coordinate and select what looks good and what you desire. This way it’s not somebody else’s kitchen preferences taking place in your kitchen. Now those are the types of designer kitchens which you ideally want. The ones you have put some energy into designing.
The other type of designer kitchens that are also okay, are the kitchen types of the chefs who know what precisely what is required in the kitchen. But it’s still designer kitchens of their own choosing and not your own. Because, I am certain their preferences are much different than yours. What you actually want is something where you can feel comfortable and in which you can spend your time beating up some brilliant creations. It goes without saying, if you are involved with the decisions on the look and feel of your new kitchen, then you will feel relaxed and comfortable in that environment.
Whatever the rest of the world thinks, the fact of the matter is, that you do spend an exuberant sum of time in the kitchen. Especially, if you are the one that likes to cook. For that reason I feel that the kitchen should be someplace you won’t mind spending time and someplace where the time will fly without your even being mindful of it. So, the design and decorating should be up to you.
Of course there’s nothing to say that your interpretation of the designer kitchens range shouldn’t cover everything that’s good and great about of all of the other types of designer kitchens. In fact that’s part of the greatness of this whole process. The ability for you to plan, design and decorate your own kitchen to have everything you want and not have to adhere to someone else’s view of what should ideally be in a designer kitchen.
So go ahead, put your fears aside, get the essentials on the design and decorating elements and design your own kitchen. Include in it everything that you have ever dreamed of having in your kitchen including that state of the art kitchen sink. And after that you can go about revealing to everybody that you have one of your very own designer kitchens. There truly is no need to let them in on the secret though – that you are the design mastermind behind your wondrous interior designer kitchen.

Designing Your Dream Kitchen

Posted under Kitchen by admin on Wednesday 6 January 2010 at 9:18 pm

Whether renovating or building new, kitchen design requires careful consideration of a family’s lifestyle. What happens in your kitchen dictates the first decision you make before further fine-tuning any design elements in your plan. Your first decision must be on kitchen size.

For many families, the kitchen is indeed the heart of the home. Not only is the kitchen the site of food preparation, for many families who opt out of formal dining areas, it is also where all meals are served.

For the family oriented home-owner who leads a casual and traditional lifestyle, the kitchen is also where children gather to do homework, where Mom sets up her scrapbooking supplies, where friends are entertained. If this is you, your kitchen design must be planned to accommodate a variety of activities.

For home owners whose approach to the kitchen is more utilitarian, a compact, modest-sized kitchen might be more in line with the design you have in mind. The kitchen can be much smaller, with the saved space devoted to rooms that see perhaps a little more activity than the kitchen.

For many of today’s singles and couples, cooking has become a hobby as much as a necessity. If this is you, your kitchen design will be a backdrop to showcase your interest and talent. Be sure your kitchen adequately accommodates this popular pastime.

No matter what your lifestyle, there are certain elements key to all kitchen design, all kitchen sizes. What appliances will occupy your kitchen space? Consider size and placement in your planning.

Do you have room to work? Is an island necessary and is their adequate space to ensure its placement will not interfere with traffic flow? Is floor space sufficient for an easy flow of traffic from refrigerator to stove to sink to table?

Have you allowed for adequate cupboard and countertop space? Do you have space for all your kitchen tools and those tools and appliances still on your wish list?

Once you have studied carefully your lifestyle, you are better prepared to decide on a kitchen sized to meet your family’s needs. It is then that you can move on to design that perfect kitchen.

Consider searching the Internet to find some useful design tips, methods and designs in particular for your kitchen. Who said kitchen design is a hard and frustrating experience — it can actually be a lot of fun if you’re prepared with the right tools and knowledge.
